5 Autumn Fitness Tips

September 23rd is officially the first day of autumn, which can be a upsetting thought for some! The days will get shorter and the weather will get cooler, but that doesn’t mean your health and fitness routine should be forgotten. A few changes to your routine are all that’s needed.

Get Indoors

Freezing temperatures are likely to put you off going for that run or bike ride, but don’t be disheartened! Head down to the gym, go swimming or take part in an indoor game of footie; you’ll get all the benefits of exercising but without the frostbite to go with it.

Get Motivated

Sometimes the thing that can prevent you from getting out there is a lack of motivation. To combat this, why not recruit a friend to go to the gym with you? That way you’ll be less likely to miss a session as you would be letting them down as well as yourself.

Get Up Earlier

When you’ve come in from a long day at work and it’s already dark, the last thing you want to do is put on your gym stuff and head out into the night. Instead, get up an hour earlier and get your routine out of the way first thing. You’ll be energised for the rest of the day and you won’t be dreading that 10K at your desk.

Get Fit at Home

If leaving the house at all seems too much of a stretch, there’s still hope! Create a routine at home that you can do with furniture around the house. Sit-ups, press-ups and star jumps can all be easily accomplished from the comfort of your own home.

Or Get Outside Anyway!

I don’t know about you, but running in the summer months leaves me drenched in sweat and in dire need of a drink afterwards. The beauty of autumn is that you shouldn’t get too hot or cold when you’re exercising amongst the elements. So get yourself out there and get fit today!
